Welcome to the Full-Torso information page. We are currently inviting
testers to participate in evaluating our new Full Torso with backside.
Priority for test candidates goes first to our past customers , and then
to new customers. If you already own a torso, call or write us for solutions
for retro-fitting a backside to your existing torso. There is an upgrade
path available to you.
The Demand
We receive over 1000 emails each day, every day of the week (mostly Spam),
but what isn't Spam are emails asking about a torso with backside or full-body
doll. Inquiries about our existing torso are a fraction of that. Until
now, we have had to give people the disappointing news that what they
wanted was not available. Because it is so hard to wait for something
this cool, it was decided not even to offer hope of a forthcoming product,
since we were already under enough pressure trying to keep up with existing
torso demand, and we didn't know when we would complete development. We
have just now passed the critical point in product design and development,
and we are ready to beta test the new product. If any of this is interesting
to you, read on.
The Design Objective
The design objective of the torso with backside was to make it for less
than 75% of the cost of the full-body doll (under $4500). We did it for
35% less than the target price by utilizing a rudimentary "skeleton"
of soft fiberglass mesh, which greatly reduced costs due to a savings
in both man-hours of labor and substantial material costs for the full
skeleton, spine, ribs, and skull. As we have told many who asked in the
past, if we had put a contoured backside on our existing torso (without
a skeleton or reinforcement solution of some kind), the weight of the
gel would have caused unrealistic distortion. For instance, the head would
have flattened, widening the facial features. It was the friction from
the mattress against the flat back surface of our existing torso that
prevented this undesirable effect. We have overcome this design challenge
without sacrificing the softness or durability of the gel, which is (along
with our lifecasting process) our signature distinction, the one that
separates us from our silicone competitors.
Our
Design Challenges
Creating something that has never been made before is a little like skiing
out of bounds, at night, by flashlight. You can't see anything outside
your flashlight's light cone, and you won't notice the cliffs until you
are tight on top of them. But this is how we have always worked. There
has never been an acknowledged expert or consultant whose knowledge and
experience we could tap to solve our technical problems. We had to rely
on our own expertise, ingenuity, creativity, and sweat. We can boast a
100% success record spanning the last 15 years of solving every technical
challenge we have ever faced. However, solving these unanticipated problems
typically takes additional time and resources. The additional resourcves
required are our reposonsibility, but the extra time to find and test
a specific solution can affect the total duration of the test, and consequently,
it could affect when a tester order ships. We will not ship anything to
a Testers that isn't up to our very high quality control standards. We
weill, and have in the past, continue until every last detail has been
resolved. Always, we bear the expense for this work.
We don't offer the
Tester discount because there's a blemish or something off-spec; it's
the same exact product retail customers get. We don't off the discount
to compensate Testers for their feedback; we could have accomplished the
same thing by placing a questionnaire in the first 2 dozen Full Torsos
to ship to retail customers, offering a free CD or free teeth or something
if they filled out the form and sent it back. We offer the discount because
we cannot reliably answer the perfectly reasonable question, "When
will I get my Full Torso?" There are simply too many variables we
can't nail down to hazard a guess in which we can repose any confidence.
Our solution-
After we hit a couple of technical surprises that entailed extra work
(and time), we decided that it would be desirable to ensure that our Testers'
goodwill remained intact by sending any who asked for it a Torso Front
to use while they were waiting for their Full Torso to arrive. All Testers
who asked for this received a Torso Front promptly. After that, we simply
made the Tester package our Full Torso Bundle so that all Testers received
a free Torso Front to keep them happy while we finished our work and filled
the Tester orders in front of theirs. It cost us a LOT more,
and it extended the test period, but it is generally regarded as one of
our better decisions (by Testers and by us).
We disclose this specifically
so that you may decide before you even take another step whether you have
what it takes to be a Tester. We appreciate Testers who are articulate
and forthright in discussing personal sexual details, but it's not a deal-killer
if you aren't. The biggest factor for a potential Tester to consider is
whether he has the quality of patience, or whether he is a Type-A personality
with no patience at all. If you are the latter, the kindest thing we can
do for you is to talk you out of becoming a Tester (if we hit a challenge
that causes a delay, you would be frustrated, impatient, and unhappy with
us). We work between 80 and 100 hours per week during project design and
testing, and we don't need or want to extra pressure to perform by a deadline
when we are ALREADY making heroic efforts to do so (WITHOUT your encouragement).
If you are impatient or you think that immediate gratification takes too
long, then please wait until after the retail product rollout when we
have them in inventory, ready for immediate shipping. You'll pay substantially
more, and there won't be a free Torso Front, but you'll be happier not
waiting.
On the other hand,
if you want the the distinction of being am ong the first in the world
to receive our best product to date, with deepest discount we have ever
offered in our history, and you will be satisfied using a Torso Front
until you get your Full Torso, and you are OK with sharing your honest
impressions about the product, then we believe you may have what it takes
to be a Tester, and we would like to talk with you.
The Invitation and Offer
Our existing customers have had a chance to decide whether to participate
in the test or wait for product roll-out. Accordingly, the invitation
to testers can now be extended to a few members of the general public.
You are invited to be considered as a candidate for participation in the
Torso with Backside Test Group.
If chosen, testers who desire accessory items (wig and eyes), may purchase
these at any time at additional cost. Eyes (prosthetic quality) are $130,
and wigs start at $75 (for the blonde Farah, our best value and most popular
wig). You may simply add these items to the order form and add the additional
amount to the already discounted total listed in this offer.
FAQ: Difference between Testers and Customers
Our bundles are available to Testers, only. In the past we have had a
Tester who apparently didn't read what we posted on the website about
the difference between customers and Testers, so we are re-posting the
basic difference here to avoid confusion or misunderstanding. Customers
are able to buy a product (at full retail price) that is already past
the retail product roll-out and in regular production. Neither customers
nor Testers can purchase a product that has not yet been released. In
contrast, Testers buy a position in our Test Group (when we are having
a test), and that position comes with a number of generous privileges
unique to Testers, such as the right to be the first in the world to receive
the new product they will be testing, the right to upgrade their order
at our cost, and a FREE Torso Front to give them something to use while
we complete our design work prior to product roll-out (first to Testers,
and then to retail customers), and other privileges we elect to include
from time to time. In addition, the cost of a position in the Test Group
is about half of what a customer would pay for the products that Testers
receive as a privilege of membership in the group. Positions in the group
are limited. They are also transferable upon request, meaning that Testers
are free sell or otherwise transfer their position to a third party of
their choosing. The same Tester obligation to provide feedback MUST accompany
the transfer to the new Tester. We have facilitated this several times
in the past (e.g., most often when a Tester gets married and lives in
a small apartment). We take no part in finding a replacement (we are busy
enough as it is), but we do not limit the Tester in the selection of his
replacement (several Testers with deep pockets have speculated on the
difference between the cost of a Tester position and the retail price
of the dolls they receive as a Tester benefit (they plan to buy low and
sell high, but we strongly urge potential Testers to consider the possibility
of a longer than anticipated time to realize a return on their "investment"
as we are pioneering a technology that no one has ever developed before,
and there are always unanticipated technical challenges to solve that
can add substantially to the delivery time of the product being tested.
Having said that, we have a 17-year track record of 100% success in solving
every technical challenge we have ever encountered. To allow considerations
of buyer's remorse, or the like, would be disruptive to the progress of
the test and adversely affect our ability to make forward progress, which
in turn affects all Testers in the group. We are committed to completing
our development for our Testers as expeditiously as possible in a manner
that is consistent with our high quality standards. Accordingly, we are
diligent in protecting our test from the disruption of frivolous requests
to join the group, or buyer's remorse (although we have seen that in only
a small handfull of our Testers and customers, combined). We encourage
customers and Testers, alike, to perform their due diligence research
before making a commitment to join the group (or to buy a doll in the
case of customers). In order to support you in making an informed decision,
we have created a custom search engine on the website that includes all
the realistic sex doll manufacturers' websites. By entering a keyword
search term, your hits will be limited to highly relevant results. Further,
we regularly refer customers and Testers to RealDoll for their factory
tour as we feel the best way to make an informed decision is to actually
see and touch a competing silicone doll before making a purchase decision.
For our part, since we do not have a showroom in our current production
facility, we offer 1-lb. samples of our patented elastomeric gel for comparison,
and the $50 cost is deducted form your order of a Torso Front or better
(in the case of customers), or any of our Bundles (in the case of Testers).
Call to Action (How to assure your place as a tester)
If you wish to be considered as a candidate for this test, then advise
of this at once. We will continue to search for suitable candidates until
we have our test group, at while time participation will be closed. We
are limiting participation in this test to only a few participants (as
opposed to past tests), and if we need more testers later to refine some
nuance of the production process, we will make a separate announcement.
In order to be considered for inclusion in the test group, candidates
must meet the following requirements:
- Testers must be
able to place an order (at the discount stated in the pricing list)
- Testers must be
willing to provide honest, detailed, and accurate feedback on their
impression of the product being tested (one page with 6 questions is
our typical questionnaire)
- Testers agree to
allow us to quote them (anonymously, of course)
- Testers agree to
become members of the Doll Forum (it's free), as a means of sharing
information with non-testers. Participation in online discussions is
purely voluntary.
- There's no certificate
or anything; if you take the discount, you accept the Tester requirements
and obligations, and in return, you enjoy the Tester rights and priviledges.
We can evaluate your request for inclusion either by email
or by phone in most cases (unless we are waiting to hear back from someone
